Życie Garfielda to istny raj. Wszyscy go kochają, cały dzień siedzi w fotelu i ogląda telewizję albo śpi, je i nie robi nic więcej. Po prostu jest pępkiem świata. Wszystko zmienia się, gdy jego pan, Jon Arbuckle, zabiera Garfielda do weterynarza. Tam piękna pani weterynarz Liz Wilson daje Jonowi szczeniaka wabiącego się Odie. Idealne życie Garfielda zostaje wywrócone do góry nogami. Od tej chwili pragnie tylko jednego: wykurzyć Odiego z domu i tym samym ze swojego życia. Pewnej nocy szczeniak zostaje porwany i wydaje się, że perfekcyjny świat Garfielda powrócił. Jednak Garfield, chyba po raz pierwszy w życiu, czuję się choć trochę odpowiedzialny za to co się stało. Postanawia wkroczyć do akcji i podjąć się najbardziej nieprawdopodobnej misji: uratować Odiego.
